It's easy to see why these earrings are so popular: they're lightweight and versatile, look great with a little black dress or jeans and a tee shirt. Plus they stay on without the need for earring backs, making them comfortable to wear all day long. They're made with gold fill wire that we hammer lightly for some visual interest and then finish in the jewelry tumbler to make them shiny, super springy and able to hold their shape.
Everything Queens Metal makes starts from raw materials -- sheets of silver and copper, lengths of metal tube and wire, and chunks of jewelers wax. From there, they use traditional metalsmithing techniques -- sawing, forming, soldering -- to bring their designs to life.
Queens Metal is their rallying cry to women everywhere. They want their jewelry to remind women that jewelry should be fun, outrageous, and joyful. They want them to feel empowered when they try on something from the Queens Metal collection.
New Orleans Artist and Designer Krista DeJoseph has been at the helm of Queens Metal since 2006. She studied jewelry making in New York, NY, Chiapas, Mexico, and the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.
In Spring, 2014 Krista opened the jewelry and lifestyle store Tooth & Nail Trading Co, on historic Magazine Street in New Orleans, LA.
